Ubatuba – My latest book has been published

After 5 years of living in Ubatuba in Brazil, I have finally had my photography work published in the form of a large coffee table book. I immediately fell in love with Ubatuba, a municipality of the state of Sao Paulo in Brazil’s south eastern coastline. Ubatuba is a very special place to me, I found all I wanted here photographically. It is covered over 80% in Atlantic rainforest and much of that is protected by the Serra do Mar national park.

Latest photo in National Geographic magazine February 2018

I am very proud to share with you a photo from my beloved Richmond park in London of a red deer stag in the mist. This appears in the recent National Geographic magazine of February 2018. Although my photos appear in many of NatGeo books and publications, this is only the second time I have appeared in the the magazine. A very proud moment for me.

New Website Host SiteGround

I dont normally post sales posts but I felt inclined this time. I recently decided to do something about the VERY slow speeds my site was at. After reading a multitude of reviews I made the decision to switch to Siteground.

Photos of Iceland

This January I made a trip to one of my all-time favourite destinations so far on my travels, Iceland. I had travelled to Iceland around 8 years ago, after meeting several Icelandic photographers who had become online friends through a photo competition website called dpchallenge. That photo trip back then was one of my first, but still most memorable, especially for landscape photography.

Photos of Lençóis Maranhenses

One of the most unique and spectacular places for photography you will see in Brazil, and possibly the world, is the Lençóis Maranhenses national park in Maranhão state in north-eastern Brazil. The word Lençóis in Portuguese means sheets and this describes the beautiful shapes and silk smooth landscapes of endless dunes. It makes for some pretty amazing photos of Lençóis Maranhenses indeed. And what makes this place so unique is the water lagoons formed during the rainy season each year. The entire park area is around 1,500 km2.

Photos of Chapada Diamantina

Last week I made the journey from Sao Paulo to Chapada Diamantina in Bahia State, Brazil. I had always been told that this is one of Brazil’s top wild destinations and a stunning place for photos. Full of waterfalls, canyons and stunning landscapes. It is about a 2 hours plus flight to Bahia’s capital Salvador from Sao Paulo. From there you can take a 6 hour long coach ride to Lencois in Chapada Diamantina. Alternatively there are infrequent flights approx 50mins- 1hour flight time on Sundays and Thursdays with Azul.

    Dear Alex,
I just found your blog entry about Iguazu and your faboulos photograhps of the falls. We are travelling to Brasil next September and would like to visit the falls. We’ll arrive on the Brazilian side, but definitively would like to visit both sides. Can you give us some guidance about the transfer over the border (where to book, how long it takes, etc.)? We’ll stay for 3 nights at the falls. Is it worth to book a hotel on each side (to optimize for best light for photography) or is it enough to be on the Brazilian side and do a day tour across the border?
Thank you very much for your travel tipps.
    Best regards,
    Michelle

My new fast website host
I just recently switched my website hosting company from a rather slow 123-reg.co.uk to the brilliant www.siteground.com. I had been very unhappy with the speeds of my site and decided it was time to investigate a better solution. After reading many articles on hosting companys including this article.
