After 5 years of living in Ubatuba in Brazil, I have finally had my photography work published in the form of a large coffee table book. I immediately fell in love with Ubatuba, a municipality of the state of Sao Paulo in Brazil’s south eastern coastline. Ubatuba is a very special place to me, I found all I wanted here photographically. It is covered over 80% in Atlantic rainforest and much of that is protected by the Serra do Mar national park. This rainforest contains over 500 species of birds, and an amazingly beautiful display of flowers and plants. Ubatuba also has 100 stunning and diverse types of beaches surrounded by the Serra do mar mountain ranges. I was amazed that my book was the first photographic account of this beautiful area.

After around 4 years of taking photos around the various beaches and jungle areas and having found many of the bird and animal species I was looking for, I decided to approach publishers and businesses to invest in this book. Brazil at this time has been going through a tough economic time and this goal was quite a tough one. But thanks to the Bananal Ecolodge the dream of this book about Ubatuba was realised. Bananal Ecolodge is the one true ecolodges in the Ubatuba region. It is a proper jungle experience due to its amazing location in the sertao de Ubatumirim area of Ubatuba. Thanks to Alexandre and Luciana, the owners of Bananal, the potential of such a book was seen. If you are visiting Brazil I would highly recommend this ecolodge. You will really experience the Atlantic rainforest, from its waterfalls, mountains and jungles surrounding it to the authentic food from the jungle and wonderful ecolodge grounds.
This book about Ubatuba has been solely published in Brazil. If you would like a copy the best places to buy are at the Bananal Ecolodge and also Nobel book shop in the centre of Ubatuba.
