I have just returned from a short photo trip to Ubatuba in Brazil. Ubatuba is a region in the state of Sao Paulo and a very photogenic one. It is situated on the northern coast of Sao Paulo state and is a couple of hours drive away from the massive metropolis Sao Paulo. Ubatuba is an area that surrounded by stunning mountains called the Serra do Mar mountains. It also has plenty of amazing beaches, waterfalls, rivers, and is set in a vast stretch of Mata Atlantica Rainforest. Due to this fact it is the host to many plant and animal species, especially birds. A great location for photos.
There are estimated to be 500 species of birds in Ubatuba out of the 1700 found in Brazil and 5% of the total birds on the planet. So this area is an important region for the preservation of birds species. It is also a hotspot for photo tours of birds and birdwatchers. You don’t even need a guide to view the trails and jungle regions.
I had been to Ubatuba briefly before and was amazed at the number of colourful birds and amazing scenery there, so I had to return to take more photos. I managed to find and photograph the following birds there plus others I havent posted. Here are some of the Birds of Ubatuba I have seen:
Red-Necked Tanager
Saira Bird
Plain Parakeet
Green-headed Tanager
Female Blue Dacnis
Green Honeycreeper
Brazilian Tanager
Chestnut-bellied Euphonia
