As a wildlife photographer I enjoy close up shots of many species in the park, but the shots that I really like to work as prints and that sell best for customers are of the environment and the wildlife. Thsi photo is a classic example of that and how it conveys Richmond Park as a wild place. It is especially dramatic when combined with the amazing winter mists and starkness of the trees and bracken. Usually photography books teach you the rule of thirds for placing your subject but this breaks the rules and puts the stag central. The cluster of trees behind allows this deviation and completes the photo.
